Here you see a typical urban arroyo, complete with an abandoned refridgerator and how it was transformated to an arroyo that supports habitat for trees and grasses, and the refrigerator is still there!

Typical Urban Arroyo

This is a typical urban arroyo. The degraded arroyo has no capacity for storage of storm water.

Taming the Arroyo

We restored the arroyo. A series of low check dams retain soil and water, and support habitat for trees and grasses. The refrigerator is still there under six feet of sediment!!
